The West Yorkshire Referees Society (WYRS) is actively recruiting new referees.
Many clubs will have experienced the reality of the phrase "No Ref, No Game" over recent seasons. When a referee isn't available, fixtures can be postponed or cancelled, affecting player development, matchday experience, and valuable club income generated through those games.
Refereeing offers a fantastic opportunity to stay involved in rugby, develop new skills, and contribute to the game we all love.
As a newly qualified referee, you'll receive:
An internationally recognised refereeing qualification
Free membership of the Rugby Football Referees Union (RFRU)
Free first-year membership with West Yorkshire Referees Society
Regular law updates and development training
Ongoing mentoring and coaching to support your progression both on and off the field
Appointments to matches that suit your availability and experience level
Match expenses from £25 per game
Referee starter pack including:
A clear pathway to progress through the refereeing ranks, including opportunities to reach the National League Match Official Team (NLMOT)
Monthly WYRS meetings and networking opportunities
Access to Match Official Advisors and Assessors
Priority access to international rugby tickets
