Doncaster 0 Heath 40

Heath U13s travelled down to Doncaster on a wet and miserable morning..but my word it was worth it!!

Once we found the correct pitch and everyone got through the diversion due to road closures the lads were pumped and ready to go!! Thanks to Rick Carter for helping warm the players up and running a touch line for us ๐Ÿ‘.

So we took 13 players against Doncaster who had 23..but that didn’t phase the boys, with Sonny Gordon not available captain Ethan Murphy switched to 10, Alex Kershaw filled in at prop and Humphrey Hall went to 8 leaving Bradley Gill on the wing as we welcomed back scrum half Lennon Wood after his injury.

With wet conditions i thought it would be a messy game but not for Heath. From the kick off Heath looked very organised and only 5 minutes of play Logan Hall ran 40 yards to put Heath one try up. As we began to settle in..the ruck speed and crisp handling from Lennon Wood to Ethan Murphy was ripping the Doncaster defence in bits..big hits from Kershaw and Logan HM kept forcing them back and Donny making mistakes. Scrum time and Lennon sent an accurate pass out to Ethan Murphy with great vision he slipped through the defence to get over for a try.

Donny couldn’t get out of there own half due to a solid Heath defensive line..we never got penalised once for been offside..credit to the team..the only way out for Donny was to kick but unfortunately with solid fullback Alfie been on tip top form..within seconds we were back in there 20. Next scrum was Donny to feed..Lennon Woods pressure on the scrum half made him knock on ( he made his life a nightmare) Logan HM collected the ball and sent Logan Hall on his way for a great solo try. Straight away we were back in the Donny half..a busting run from work horse Jasper Haigh sent Bradley Gill over in the corner, great support play..but touchline judge said it was a forward pass๐Ÿคจ ( I’m gunna give you that try Bradders..you deserved it)

Last minute of the 1st half Heath get a penalty 5m from there own line..a quick tap from Murph sent Lewis Farrell on a run and that started what I’d say was the best team try of the season..after 12 phases of play without one mistake Alfie Cartwright went over for a try..I’m not sure who were the happiest, me the players or Chris Moore ๐Ÿ˜‚

Half time 0-20

Second half Doncaster had alot of fresh legs on but that didn’t bother Heath..we were flying by this point. 5 minutes in and we were back in there 20 and with a powerful run Logan HM broke 3 tackles for a well deserved try.. Doncaster were not getting through the Heath defence again and after a scrum on the left Lennon sent Murphy down the blindside to get in for his 2nd try. Not 2 minutes later we capitalised on a Doncaster error and Murphy gets his 3rd try weaving 40 yards past the Donny defence.

Doncaster’s heads were now down and a credit to our lads and the fitness level of all the team we just kept pumping away looked to be enjoying every minute..final try of the game went to Logan Hall who was unstoppable in defence and attack.

Last minute of the game Jasper Haigh broke through tackles in his own 20 to run half the pitch but unfortunately suffered a nasty ankle injury..the referee blew the final  whistle.

Full time.

Doncaster 0-40 Heath.

Very proud of all the team..feedback from Doncaster coach.. “ you’ve got a great set of lads and we didn’t know what hit us today “

Great to have Chris Moore on the sideline today with his support..and as usual excellent support from parents.

Overall the best team performance I’ve seen from the U13s..all gave 100%!!

Man if the match

Ethan Murphy! Played a blinding game at first receiver....put in some superb tackles and scored 3 trys..led from the front and showed leadership as the captain..well done Murph!

That’s it until training on the 4th April.

Enjoy your Easter break everyone.
