Old Crossleyans u13s 40 - 15 Heath
Our neighbours Old Crocs hosted Heath u13s for the first time this season following a recent rearranged fixture. The boys led today by Ethan Murphy were looking forward to the challenge of playing a team including former Heathen explosive centre Rudi Spencer-Bennett. The match was being refereed by Crocs legend Chris Seymour.
The first half was well balanced. At the set piece Heath got a couple of strikes against the head and were competing well at the ruck. Crocs were stringing some phases together and it was Spencer-Bennett who was becoming a handful for Heaths defence. There were scores for both teams in the first half, tries by Charlie Anderson and the pick by Louie Moss after a great offload by Logan Helliwell-MacDonald. At half time Crocs we’re leading 20-10.
The second half became one sided. More dominance came from Spencer-Bennett’s strong runs but also great hands from the Crocs back line as Heath defence started to fade. That said Alex Kershaw was the stand out Heathen grafting til the very end whilst Charlie White never looked out of place in the pack.
Crocs were able to score four further tries to Heaths one. Heath played to the very end for which gives the lads and coaches confidence that come the new year we can work on some areas at training and go again.
Final score 40 - 15.
Player of the Match - Alex Kershaw
So that brings 2023 to an end. Crocs are a club with a junior section on the up and wish them all the very best of luck for 2024. Thanks to Richard Wheale/Navneet Sembi for hosting, great refereeing by Chris Seymour and to Crocs staff for the hot dogs and a great pint of Guinness!
Merry Christmas to all the u13s players and parents. Enjoy the break and see you at training on Thursday 4th January 2024!
