Heath 2nds remain unbeaten

Reporter: Steve Dawes
Dated: 30 November -0001
Team: Cartwright, T Hinchcliffe, Bruce, Horn, Saltonstall, Cole, Reynolds, Beasty, Wilkinson, Barnes, Hunter, James, Kerr, McFadden & Dance. Replacements Wilby, Dawes & Szadby With several 1st team players needing a run out on return from injury, Heath fielded a very strong side against Yarnbury. Dawes and Collinge were due to join the team for the 2nd half on the bench, having played a full game earlier for the 3rd team. However, Collinge withdrew due to a serious knee injury resulting in a trip to Hospital. Heath started very powerfully in the forwards and were dominant at scrum and breakdown. Dance, Owen and James provided a solid base for the backs to attack from. After 15 minutes the backs released the ball along the line, for ever improving Bruce to cross out-wide, the difficult conversion was missed by Cole. Heath again dominated for large periods of the 1st period and this again paid dividends when through great work again in the forwards Beasty crossed again, for an unconverted try. Half time came with the score at 10 – 0 Yarnbury exerted some early pressure in the 2nd half but despite gaining ground through several penalties, Heath held firm. Again Heath's forwards won decent ball at the breakdown and from the lineout - eventually resulting in the release of the ball to Kerr, who managed to ground it ball just inside the corner flag, fending off last minute tackles from Yarnbury. Wilkinson and Reynolds (playing out of position at full back) had great runs, with the latter unlucky not to capitalise on a deft chip through when running the ball out of defence. From that move, the ball was popped up to Kerr who was driven over by the supporting Dawes. Kerr then left the field with vision issues and Szadby replaced James, Wilby had come on for Beasty. Heath were unlucky not to increase the score, with Hinchcliffe being stopped near the line, and the Ref blew for time, with Heath celebrating a strong 20 – 0 win
