🇳🇿⭐️STAR PLAYER - Matty Thornton⭐️🇳🇿
The Hawks suffered their second league defeat of the season in a disappointing encounter in Leeds. The away team started brightly and looked the more likely with Josh Beck and Matty Thornton punching holes in the defence. However, it was Morley who took the lead with a penalty bang in front of the sticks (3-0).
The home side increased their lead after taking advantage of good territory, crashing over out wide (8-0). Heath came back strongly, Sam Sharp made a superb break before passing to Brook Ward, only to be met by a crunching hit which saw him leave the field. Dillon North, Pete Hampshire and George Heron carried hard before Matty Thornton, in his last game before jetting off to New Zealand, made an excellent 40 metre break before finding the supporting Sam Fletcher who scampered home (8-5).
HT 8-5.
The Hawks knew they had to tighten up in all areas. Henry Hirst and Ben Hall left the field at half time as they are representing Yorkshire U20’s on Sunday. good luck lads. The second half saw a flurry of yellow cards, a lot of kicking by the Morley ten and very little clear cut chances for either side. Joe Shipman, Heron, and Beck coming closest from close range but not able to get the ball down. Morley finished better, scoring a converted try (15-5) and a penalty (18-5).
FT 18-5.
The lads will regroup and comeback stronger than ever as they build up to the playoffs.
