Heath headed over to Keighley in confident mood with the team unbeaten in two months. However, with a raft of changes from last weeks impressive win it was always going to be tough. On the 4G pitch conditions were perfect, if not a little too quick for some of the team. There was a welcome return to action for prop Paddy Kerr. The visitors started the game quickly and dictated play, Joe Shipman backed up a Matthew Wilkinson break for the first unconverted score. Jack Bruce capitalised on a kick through to score with Michael Reynolds converting. It got even better when Danny Greenwood hit a good line off Junaid Malik to score an unconverted try. The warning signs were there when Keighley recorded two tries to cut the gap to 5 points at the break, 12-17.
Heath came out strongly and with a similar move, Greenwood scored his second. That was as good as it got, Heath struggled to clear their lines and Keighley's direct approach took its toll on a tiring Heath team. Mark Puttick, Max Dawes, Reynolds and Wilkinson tried everything in defence to stop the onslaught but Keighley added 19 unanswered points to win the game 31-22.
This was a disappointing result but it doesn't deflect away from what has been a superb first half to the season. The team are top of the league and fully deserve this position with some outstanding performances. Well done to all the lads that have turned out for the seconds so far.
