Heath went into the game on the back of four wins and against the team that has been top of the league for most of the season. The home side started well and dominated the early exchanges. On one of the first attacks from the scrum, Matthew Hallett collected a bouncing ball and set off on a mazy run to the line, beating players with power and pace. Richard Cole converted for a deserved lead. Hallett doubled his tally shortly after, backing up a Simon Brown break, who had been put clear by the influential Junaid Malik, Cole converted. Heath were dominating procedures with strong breaks from Jack Bruce, Danny Greenwood and Matthew Wilkinson, which should have added to their tally. Shortly afterwards Cole found Brown with a long pass on the blind side, he timed his pass superbly and Bruce juggled before sprinting clear for an unconverted try in the corner. The evergreen Emlyn James and Richard Dance were working hard to put and keep Heath on the front foot. Max Dawes, Wilkinson and Joe Shipman were defending superbly against the powerful visitors who had spells battering the Heath line. Adam Milner, Martyn Barnes and the returning Rondene Johnson entered the fray to refresh the pack. All three added enthusiasm and ensured the pace of the game remained high. Half time, Heath 19-0 Moortown.

Heath kicked off the second half confident of adding to their tally. It didn't take long, strong drives from Milner, Mark Puttick and George Heron set up good position before Hallett backed up Brown to score the bonus point try and his hatrick, Cole converted. The next try was scored after slick hands from the backs, Brown timed his pass to Bruce superbly who finished well, beating he fullback on the outside, Cole converted superbly from the touchline. Owain Griffiths, Jack Thornton and the welcome return of Ian Downsborough changed things up as Heath chased more points. Johnson, Malik and Greenwood repelled a number of attacks and Moortown went to uncontested scrums as they put their pack out of their misery. Brook Ward went clear and Cole kicked into the corners from a number of penalties. From a scrum ten metres out, Downsborough and Cole put Brown in space to score a deserved try, Cole kicked the conversion from wide out before being replaced by Hallett. In the last ten minutes Heath had to defend their line which they did superbly, lead by Puttick, Dawes and Barnes.

This was an excellent win against a strong side. The squad gets stronger every week and the competition for places is paying dividends.

Well done to all the lads involved
