Heath under 16s produced one of their best performances of the season despite losing to a strong, well organised Stockport side 40-24.
Despite going 2 tries down in the space of the first 10 mins, both converted by Stockport, Heath came back with some slicks handling through Olly Bailey and Adan Foster resulting in a try near the posts for Sam Stasiulevicus and converted by Junior Routledge to make the score 14-7.
The Stockport forwards were gaining the upper hand in the set and this resulted in front foot ball for the Stockport centre to go over near the posts and convert his own try making the score 21-7. Heath turned round at halftime 21-7 behind but the belief was still there.
Immediately from the restart Heath were undone due to poor concentration out wide which lead to the Stockport centre pouncing on an error to score near the posts. The conversion made it 28-7. Heath rang the changes and great work from Caleb Buckley, Charlie Shaw and Alex Brown paved the way for Alex to score out wide. The conversion missed making the score 28-12. Another Stockport breakaway try against the run of play made the score 35-12 after the successful conversion. Heath never gave up and back they came with a try from the hard working Jesse Boothroyd which made the score 35-17.
Hard running Sam went over again from some good work from the forwards and the conversion made if 35-24. Heath never gave up in their belief and work rate but a couple of mistakes lead to another Stockport try which made the final score 40-24.
Man of match for Heath was Jesse Boothroyd but all 17 Heath players showed a fantastic attitude and their never give up attitude bodes well for the future. A lot to build on.
