Match Report
Heath U15’s vs HYMCA
26.11.17
The away visit to Huddersfield YMCA saw conditions for only the hardiest of players and spectators alike.
Heath kicked off towards the clubhouse with a strong right to left wind and were quickly on attack in the home sides half, intent on bouncing back from last weeks difficult tie at Rochdale. They were quickly rewarded when Centre Max Rowntree scored in the left hand corner which was followed up by a fine individual Isaac Shaw score having run from within his own half and led 10-0 after only 5 minutes.
A period of pressure in the visitors half led to a scrum penalty that was run by Second Five Eighth Dillon Hilton who linked up with Fullback Jack Lumb to score in the corner.
Heath were rarely put under pressure or without possession and again set up camp in the oppositions 22 with good work from Lock Saul Marson regularly testing the home side defence. Whenever YMCA did get possession strong tackling from loosies Andrew Coates and Alfie Connors stopped any potential threat in its tracks.
Eventually more points arrived with tries to Alfie Connors and Wing Adam Ayub with the latter as a result of the ball being sent through the hands from a scrum for a try in the right hand corner. With the last try of the half converted by First Five Harry Stevens Heath led 27-0 at half time.
The second half saw Coach Chris Piper use all his substitutes and started in a similar manner with Heath moving the opposition pack around the park and stretching their defence opening up gaps that the more mobile Heath backs began to penetrate, allowing Dillon Hilton and Max Rowntree the space to create havoc in the middle of the park. From a ruck just on home sides line re[placement Prop Zach Herman bundled over for his first try of the season which was converted by Jack Lumb.
From the kick off Jack Lumb ran through to the oppositions 10m line kinking with Dillon Hilton who scored in the left hand corner for Heath to lead 39-0 ten minutes into the second half.
Saul Marson received the kick off just outside the Heath 22 and was finally brought down in the oppositions 22. With the ball quickly recycled Max Rowntree went over under the posts for his second of the match, converted his own try to take the score to 46-0.
A further try just before full time to Jack Lumb, converted by Isaac Shaw took the final score to 53-0.
A good workout with good performances across the park was the perfect tonic to get back to winning ways.
