Put simply - you can't say the score reflected the game.

Heath travelled to the East coast for the second week running looking to build on their victory last week against Hullensians and hoping to continue to play “fish and chip” rugby as the team got back to basics. Out of the team were Jordan Bradbrook, concussion, Eddie Cartwright, injured and the unavailable Ryan Hunter and Howard Hanks so in came Ben Maxwell, Callum Harriet-Brown and Jordan Moana to start the game whilst on the bench Fergus Marsden returned along with Si Brown and debutant Brad Davis. In superb, but cold, conditions Heath got off to the perfect start when they were awarded a penalty in the first minute which Ezra Hinchliffe kicked and they led 3-0. However, the lead was short lived as Scarborough fought back and the referee awarded them a penalty after 7 minutes to pull the scores level 3-3. Both sides tested each other out particularly in the scrums which the referee began penalising and from one left the Scarborough prop having to leave the field of play. The home side continued to press for a score and with a clever cross field kick only the intervention of Harriet-Brown prevented a score. On 25 minutes Scarborough broke the deadlock with a converted try in the corner to lead 10-3. Heath needed to respond and good work from Tom Baxter and Olly Cook saw them make headway into the Scarborough half. On 35 minutes a clever kick from Dom Walsh saw Luke Saltenstall race onto the ball and collect. He passed back along the line for Harriet-Brown to score in the corner but the referee pulled play back for a forward pass. Heath were now in control as they battered the Scarborough defence but they could not find a way through and half time came. The start of the second half saw Heath continue where they had left off. A huge clearance from Jack Sheldrake saw the lively Harriett-Brown close players down but still the visitors could not score. Scarborough came back and from a quick tap penalty scored a second converted try, like a seagull stealing yer chips, and the lead was extended to 17-3 after 58 minutes. Heath were still not giving up and charges from Moana, Richard Brown and Fergus Marsden saw the home side give a penalty in front of the posts. Heath opted for a scum and as the steam rose from the players, like a pan of boiling mushy peas, a great surge from the Heath pack saw them held up short of the try line and Scarborough once again cleared their lines. As they broke clear again Scarborough again played good open rugby and went in for a third converted try after 70 minutes to increase the score to 24-3. The home side then went looking for the bonus point fourth try but despite going close on several occasions the final whistle came. This was another game in which Heath performed well in certain areas and times but still could not find that vital score when they hold the upper hand. Next week they entertain lowly Selby and will be hopeful of picking up some vital points as others around them have done in recent weeks.
