An all round great performance.

Heath Colts first league game of the season against Sheffield side Mosborough saw them posting a three points victory. Slow to start, Heath played an evenly balanced game for the first 10 minutes of the game. Mosborough’s No.14 proved the man to mark, his piercing drives down the wing appearing to stir Heath into action, including Joe Holdsworth who, time and time again, proves it’s possible to tackle well above your weight. Once the start button had been pressed, Heath stepped up their game. First points came from Callum Harriott-Brown leaving his opponents in his wake as he accelerated away, touching down between the posts. Dom Ellam kicked the extra two points. Matthew Wilkinson provided a difficult customer for Mosborough defence as did Ben Sykes and Jack Raby but Heath’s next points came from Jacob Holmes with Ellam placing Heath 14-0 up 25 mins into the game. The combination of Sam Dews and Ben Sykes, ably lifted by Max Netherwood and Ryley Cowgill, saw Heath dominate in the lineouts. Tie this in with a strong performance in scrums, some good defence work, a great try from the ever improving Max Dawes and, with a half-time score of 21-0, all appeared well. Perhaps over-confidence or the player rotations got the better of them, but Heath’s second half performance dropped. Despite a few fleeting flashes of inspiration, notably Kyle Tetley’s turn of speed and agility delivering Heath’s final points of the match. The rest of the half belonged to Mosborough who ran in two unconverted tries and narrowing what could and should have been a far more convincing Heath win.
