Another good away win!

Despite their best efforts, Heath’s Under 16s managed to pull off a convincing win. Riding on the back of last month’s 55-0 win against their hosts Goole, Heath, whilst always the stronger side, appeared unable to maintain any consistency. 10 minutes into the match, winger Jack Fox took possession of a well passed ball running unchallenged to cross with ease only to drop the ball. Unfortunate. With the majority of play in Goole’s half, Heath still managed to keep the pressure on their opponents. Their play of the ball, however, just didn’t bare testimony the side’s capabilities. Dom Ellam took the first points of the game with an unconverted try. Good drives from both Sam Dews and Will Bennett fell just short of the try line. Ryley Cowgil did much the same but more successfully, adding Heath’s second try which Ellam converted. Fox, keen to address his earlier misfortune, added the final points of the half putting Heath 0 -17up. Second half continued in much the same vein and it wasn’t long before Heath’s key man Jake Holmes scored. Holmes’ excellent capacity to read and play the ball never wanes. Callum Harriott-Brown displays similar talents. He managed to conjure up a superb and effectively unchallenged try from a loose ball just shy of the 22 line, kicking it straight through Goole’s defence before he chased, caught and scored. Ellam conversion put them 0- 29 ahead. A brief flurry of activity from Goole allied to Heath intermittent attention span, provided the hosts with their first converted try placed between the post by their No.10 (an under 15 playing up a year) following an excellent drive straight through Heath’s defence. Arron Kelly was unlucky not to score. Following another of his hard charging drives he was deemed to be held-up. Elliot Lesiak put in a couple of metre making drives too prior to Tom Berridge adding Heath’s next points as he crossed close to the corner, something Fox repeated moments later. A final try from Goole ended the match 12-39 in Heath’s favour. The side face a challenging week ahead with a mid-week fixture against Cleckheaton followed by an all-important weekend Plate game away to Wharfedale.
