A Seven Try stunning end to the season.

Heath’s Under 15s ended their season on a high note with a convincing home win against Cleckheaton. Shaking off their recent defeat in the Plate Cup Final the West Vale side acquitted themselves well against an improving Cleckheaton squad in the mid-week fixture. Heath stamped their authority on the game from the start with some hard running drives testing Cleckheaton’s defence. Just 5 minutes into the first half Arron Kelly crossed for an unconverted try. Kelly was quickly followed by Ben Sykes the pair providing the home side with a comfortable 10-point lead. Cleckheaton finally managed to penetrate Heath’s defence just ahead of the half-time whistle with an impressive drive from the half-way line leaving the match in the balance at 10 -7 – despite the visitors losing one of their players to injury. Heath demonstrated their class in the game from the start of the second half with Jack Fox scoring the first of his hat trick of tries with Dom Ellam kicking the extra points. A flow of tries followed with, first Jake Holmes crossing, then Fox who added a further two tries. Callum Harriet Brown sealed the 39 -7 victory with yet another superb display of speed and agility leaving a bewildered Cleckheaton defence in his wake with Ellam adding the final points. The match rounded off a successful season and fully showed how well this Heath Under 15’s side has matured and grown in both skill and application. A relatively new side at the start of the season they have made excellent progress that bodes well for the future. Whilst the lads deserve the credit for their performance they have been superbly guided by coaches Alf Baxter, Paul Sutcliffe, Neil Smurthwaite and Gary Pidgeon.
