Heath U15s: Heath put in a 5 try performance against a strong Rotherham side - from the kick off the lads were up for this one, with the forwards making some strong runs and getting some quality ball for the backs. This allowed Holmes & Brown to link up well and to take play well in to the visitor’s half. More good link up play between Sheep & Geisler allowed the latter to crash over, beneath the posts, for a great team try. Converted by Moorhouse for a 7 - 0 lead. Heath were making ground with every drive, allowing Moor house & Sharpe good ball for their quick backs. Next on the score sheet for hosts was Jake Holmes - with a strong run, beating several defenders along the way. Conversion by Moorhouse for Heath to lead 14 – 0. Heath were playing some of their best rugby of the season, but, from the restart, they switched off and allowed the visitors straight back in to the game - with a sloppy try after several missed tackles! The score was now 14 – 7 with the visitors back in the game. Luckily, this woke the Heath boys up and, from the restart, they swept straight back up the park for big prop, Sheep, to go on a barnstorming run leaving several tacklers on the floor and then to crash over for a great try. This time the conversion was missed but the hosts went into the break 19 – 7 up. The second half started with the visitors coming out fired up for the next period and they drove Heath back onto their own try line, where they were camped there for the next ten minutes. That said, Rotherham couldn’t get over the line with some excellent Heath defence - from all the team, putting their bodies on the line. This finally allowed Callum Brown, playing in his new position of centre, to put Heath further in front by showing great pace and breaking away to score outwide. Again, the conversion was missed. Score now 24 – 7. With the clock running down, both sides were getting tired after this tough encounter. Rotherham then scored a consolation try, to make it 24 – 12. But the lads were not finished there and, after more good work from Tandy & Ben Choy, securing second phase ball for Berridge to come into the line, from fullback and make a great break. Sam Sharp backed up and shot through the gap to feed Brown for his second try of the match. This time Moorhouse added the extras for a great win with a score of 31 – 12. This was one of the best performances of the season from the Heath lads - both in attack & defence. Keep up the good work!
