Another good win for the Colts.

Heath Snr Colts: Unfortunately Malton and Norton were only able to travel to West Vale with 14 players so Heath also played the match with 14 players in the correct spirit of the game. From the early exchanges, Heath Colts were keen to show their intent and quickly spun the ball along the line to allow Luke McKenzie to score in the corner with Ezra Hinchliffe adding the extras from the touchline to lead 7- 0. Heath continued to exert pressure and with backs and forwards working well together the second try came from an offload from Jack Crabtree to the onrushing Peter Birkett who crashed over the line with again Hinchliffe adding the 2 to extend the lead to 14- 0. Unfortunately Heath then had a 15-minute spell of basic errors, which was not aided by the rain. However, they regained their composure and an excellent flowing move involving Sam Pollard and Hinchliffe sent Ben Coney Critchley over in the corner for a superb try (19 - 0). Unfortunately Pollard was injured in the move and had to go off but Heath then again had some pleasing play that ended with Hinchliffe going over just before ½ time to secure the bonus points for 4 tries. ½ time 24 - 0. Almost immediately after the kick off, Heath gained the ball and a positive and forceful run from Jack Ledgard enabled them to score the first of 5 tries in the 2nd half which Hinchliffe converted giving a score of 31- 0. The Heath front five were playing really well and after taking another one against the head at the scrum (3rd time), the ball was moved one way and then the other before Max Sheldrake went over for another score which Hinchliffe successfully converted for 38- 0. From the kick off, Marsden caught the ball, passed it onto Hare who ran strongly through the opposition to pass it onto Wilkinson who ran onto the ball at pace and carried on from 35 yards for an excellent score and the extras were added from Hinchliffe 45 – 0. Man of the Match Birkett was bossing events and putting in his usual big hits and he again overturned possession for Hare and Porritt to link with Sheldrake to go in under the posts for Hinchliffe to add the conversion to give a scoreline of 52- 0. Soon after the restart, Birkett and Hare again combined to secure possession which enabled Wilkinson to run in Heath’s final try of the day which Porritt converted for 59 - 0. During the entire match a resilient Malton and Norton never gave up the fight and it was after 5 minutes of being camped in Heath’s 22 that they deservedly managed to go over the line and take the conversion to ensure they left with a score to their credit. Heath needed a positive performance, which they achieved with this result. With 4 substitutes Heath had a good run out but with the National Cup next Sunday against a very strong Billingham side, we will need to be totally focussed for a very tough match indeed.
