Heath travelled to Hull for its first match up with the Hull outfit who could only muster a starting 13.Heath responded in kind and matched the 13 from the start with usual Loosies Will Simpson and Captain Sam McIntyre included in a full bench who were all chomping at the bit to get in on the action as the match progressed.
The extra space across the park was always going to benefit the pace Heath had in the Centres and Three Quarters and it only took two minutes for Centre Matt Nicholson to find the gap just outside the Heath 22 after some good work on the ball from Second Row Jamie Reeve and outpace the defence to score under the posts.Fullback Jack Lumb duly converted for a 7-0 lead.
Hull bounced back four minutes later to level the score against the run of play but it was Matt Nicholson who again saw off the defence to dot down under the posts to give Jack Lumb an easy two pointer and Heath a 14-7 lead after nine minutes.
With Jason Merrie on the whistle Jack Crabtree already had his work cut out making regular changes to the on field 13 trying to give the bench plenty of game time. From the kick off Second Row Saul Marson set off on a storming run through the heart of the Hull defence supported by the front row of Jack Mollett, Nathan Baldwyn and Callum Pickett.Jack Lumb was continuing to pester the Hull defenders especially when running the ball out of his own 22.On the 21st minute Jack Lumb was finally brought down on the Hull 22 from which quick ball was sent out to Second Five Eighth Harry Stevens who scored out wide extending the lead to 19-7.
The last few minutes of the first half saw replacement Wing Dillon Hilton cross for his first five pointer of the day.Shortly after Jack Lumb crossed after Harry Stevens drew the last man to feed the Fullback who converted his own try to give Heath a 31-7 lead.
The second half started as the first left off with Heath in the ascendancy with only a few handling errors stopping the flow of points in the first 10 minutes of the half. It was Jack Lumb who broke free after some good work at he breakdown from Halfback George Barton scoring under the posts and converting his own try.
Harry Stevens was next to cross the white line after some great work from Matt Nicholson who slipped a pass to the Centre while in the company of two Hull defenders. The Second Five Eighth scored under the posts and converted his own try seeing Heath out to a 45-7 lead.
Hull scored next but Heath came straight back after the kick off with a Dillon Hilton try and Harry Stevens conversion. With Hull temporarily down to 12 following injury, Heath No.8 Isaac Shaw had a spell on the sideline to even up the numbers and the extra space across the park again benefited Heath with Harry Stevens blasting through the Centre to complete his hatrick, and convert.Heath now led by 59-14.
Hull scored next but again Jack Lumb, back on the park after a rest of the legs received the ball on his own line on the right hand side of the sticks. With the covering defenders stretched the pacy Fullback seared down the left touchline to score in the left hand corner for an outstanding length of the field solo effort to bring up his hatrick.
Wing Max Rowntree was the next, and last to get in on the action with a clever kick and chase to score next to the posts.Isaac Shaw, back on the field on the Wing for the last few minutes converted and take the final score to 71-21.
It was certainly a day where the extra space across the paddock due was a benefit to Heath and the pace a skills out wide were utilised to full effect.Saying that, the forwards did a good job in the tight ensuring a good platform was laid for their backs to do what they have been doing well for the last few weeks.
