Heath currently runs two open age sides on a regular basis, with a third "Social" team playing from time to time. There are two good pitches at the North Dean ground with a superb clubhouse and changing facilities. The main pitch has match standard floodlights and a stand, with the second pitch having quality training lights. Training is held at the Club on Tuesday and Thursday nights, meet 7pm for a 7.15pm start but if conditions deteriorate during the winter months, then we try to hire all weather or indoor facilities. We have the services of Head Coach Dave Harrison who is assisted by Sid Sayles, Richard Cole and Mark Puttick.
This season the First XV enter their first season in North 1 East, level 6 in the RFU Pyramid, after thirteen consecutive seasons playing in Yorkshire 1. The team are constantly working hard to try and improve with Head Coach Dave Harrison, his coaching staff and First Team Captain Chris Moore striving to ensure this comes about. They are supported in their efforts by all of the Officers of the Club, plus the many players and followers of Heath. Meanwhile the Second XV, after being crowned Champions last season, continue to play in the Championship North Merit League and also play a number of friendly fixtures to ensure a full programme throughout the season. The third team squad play a number of friendly fixtures throughout the season.
At the start of each season all players receive pre-match kit and match shorts and socks. All players are asked to find, if possible, a sponsor at a cost of £100 but if they cannot find one then they pay club subscriptions of; Full member £40 and weekly match fees. For reference, Social membership is £20 and Junior / Student £20.
Players have full physiotherapy assessment/support at training and the Firsts have coverage before, during and after each league and cup game. If further treatment is required, the club is linked to Vale Physiotherapists in West Vale where appointments can be made.
Remember, that even though we've a strong and well-organised playing set up, we are also a welcoming Club with a good social life - just look at the News and Events section on this site for confirmation.
After a major overall of its facilities with a new clubhouse, state of the art changing rooms and physio area, revamped junior/training rooms as well as landscaping the site we have also added a fully equipped gym area, improved car parking and pitch surrounds linked to the superb floodlit pitches and training areas we feel we could be viewed as the Premier Amateur Club in the Halifax and Calderdale area.
Age Grade Rugby (formerly ref to as Junior Rugby).
The club runs a thriving Age Grade section with 6 teams at present.
At Heath RUFC we are proud to run the following age grades:
- Under 8s (tag)
- Under 9s
- Under 10s
- Under 11s
- Under 14s
- Under 16s
Our Under 8 squad plays tag rugby with our other sides playing fixtures on a regular basis. Every effort is made to ensure all players are coached the basics of rugby and make progress needed to eventually feed into the senior teams. At present the Senior teams have in their squad several players who won the North of England championship as Colts and were runners up in the National Cup.
