Brods v Heath u14s

Heath u14s started their 24/25 season with a short trip to play Brods with a team of 15.  We had Cori McNamara, Cohen Slater and Ben Austin debuting.  Brods won the toss and chose to play up the hill on Beaver Park.

Heath started strongly with multiple phases of play led to the first score by Cori McNamara.  Converted by Sonny Gordon.

0-7.

Brods struck back to bring it back to 5-7.

Heath continued to press the Brods defence, Logan Helliwell-McDonald busted the line to score.  Conversion by Cori McNamara.

5-14.  Half time.

The start of the second half was all Brods.  Their 8 and centre were creating havoc, which led to two back to back tries.

15-14.

Questionable decisions by the ref led to more pressure on the Heath line.  Brods made the most of this and scored which felt like the game was done with 5 mins to go.

20-14.

Heath were stuck at the bottom of the pitch on their 5m line.  The lads grafted up the slope to get to Brods 20m line.  With some questionable  reffing, the lads continue to press. After Louis Moss took a cheap shot to the head, play continued and Heath were sniffing an opportunity.

Charlie Anderson crashed into the 5m line and with some slick handling Logan H-M dived over to score.  20-19.  The kick went wide, however the way the lads played today was all that mattered today.

Final score: 20-19.
